BDCM-B-Week20-BCL: Employment Act 1955 as at 30th April 2012, Rest Days and Holidays in Peninsular Malaysia
1.
All employees are entitled to have at least a rest
day in a week, for every week.
2.
If you are in shift work and work more than
thirty hours in a continues period, you shall entitle a rest day
3.
All employees are entitle of 11 gazetted public
holiday whereby 5 mandatory is:-
a.
National day
b.
Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong
c.
Birthday of the Ruler or the Yang di-Pertua
Negeri or Federal Territory Day
d.
Workers’ day
e.
Malaysia day
f.
The remaining 6 holidays that are from the list
in Holidays Act 1951 (refer to this list https://bdcmplt.blogspot.com/2020/01/bdcm-b-week19-bcl-public-holiday-by.html)
4.
Annual leave is awarded minimum to employee in
such:-
a.
8 days in a year, for less than 2 years
employment
b.
12 days in a year, for less than 5 years (more
than 2 years)
c.
16 days in a year, for more than 5 years
5.
Sick leave is given (minimum) to employee in
such:-
a.
14 days in a year, for less than 2 years
employment
b.
18 days in a year, for less than 5 years (more
than 2 years)
c.
22 days in a year, for more than 5 years
d.
60 days in a year, if hospitalization is
necessary
6.
Maternity leave shall not be less than 60
consecutive days
